SUBMARINERS from HM Naval Base Clyde joined other sailors members of the public and community leaders in Helensburgh on Sunday (November 13) for the town’s Remembrance Service.

A Royal Navy Guard of Honour, made-up of personnel from HMS Neptune, marched to the memorial garden in Hermitage Park where veterans, serving members of the armed forces, and members of the public gathered for the sombre ceremony. Also attending were the HMS Neptune Volunteer Band.

Following the two minutes silence and reflection, wreaths were laid by veterans and community groups.

Laying a wreath on behalf of the Royal Navy this year was Captain Nick Gibbons, Captain of the Base.

Captain Gibbons said: “In a year when we have recently reflected on a life of selfless dedication and unstinting duty, we come together again across the whole community to fall silent and remember those who have paid the ultimate sacrifice to our country.”

Royal Navy personnel from HMNB Clyde also attended Glasgow’s Remembrance event, as well as multiple services the length and breadth of the country.
