William Dillin was born at Ayr on 12 December 1892, the son of the late James and Euphemia Dillin, of 35, Clune St., Ayr. He joined the Royal Navy on 31 January 1910 at HMS GANGES. Before joining submarines he served in the battleship HMS THUNDERER. He is commemorated on the Plymouth Naval Memorial Panel 21.
