Arthur Hall was born in Calder Vale, Lancashire on 20 September 1921, the son of William C Hall and Mary M Hall of Garstang, Lancashire. It is not reported when he joined the Royal Navy or submarines but he is known to have served in HMS H43.
RN BMD records indicate that he died from pleural effusion – the result of pulmonary tuberculosis
