Edward Jones was born on 25 August 1894, the son of Thomas and Grace Jones of Brynmawr, Llanymynech, Montgomeryshire. He joined the Royal Navy on 8 October 1913 after working as a farm labourer. He is commemorated on the Portsmouth Naval Memorial Panel 30 and on the war memorial at Llandysilio, Montgomeryshire.
