Frederick Langridge was born on 9 December 1887 at St Luke’s London, the son of Frederick Charles and Louisa Ellen Langridge of 59 Rensburg Road, Walthamstow, Essex. 

Details of his DSM were published in the London Gazette dated 23 October 1914. This award was among a series of awards for officers and men of HMS E9 for sinking the German light cruiser SMS Hela on 13 September 1914 and the subsequent sinking of the destroyer S126 on 6 October. He was also awarded the Russian Order of St George.

He died at Reval (now Tallinn) Estonia and is buried at Tallinn New Garrison Cemetery.  The cause of death was recorded as anaemia following acute nephritis.
