Cuthbert Mack was born on 22 January 1912 and was serving in HMS ADAMANT when he died 3 June 1950.
According to the report in the Hampshire Telegraph of 9 June 1950: “Petty Officer Wilfred Vissenga, of H.M.S. Portland Bill, saw the deadlights were covering the port-holes of a cabin, he investigated. Inside: he saw ERA. Cuthbert MACK hanging by an electric lead secured to the cover of a ventilator. A verdict that ERA. Mack “took his life while the balance of his mind was disturbed” was recorded on Monday by the Portsmouth Coroner (Mr. P. H. Childs). Vera Mack. of 27, Kestrel Avenue. Middlesbrough, said that from the tone of his letters, which she received every day until Friday, she thought her husband was cheerful and, looking forward to coming home’ on June 12.”
