Nicolaos Merlin, Lieutenant in the Greek Navy, was the First Lieutenant of the Greek submarine Glafkos which was in for repairs in Malta. He had hitched a ride in HMS PERSEUS in order to take over a new submarine in Alexandria and was lost along with all but one of the crew when the submarine hit a mine.
