Ernest Simmons was born at Stamford Hill, Middlesex on 13 November 1895. He was the son of William Henry and Mary Rosetta Simmons of Enfield, Middlesex. He died of tuberculosis in the Royal Naval Hospital, Haslar. He is buried in Haslar Naval Cemetery.
