Albert Wright was born on 19 April 1916 at North Walsham in Norfolk. He was the son of Isaac and Ruth Wright.  He joined the Royal Navy at HMS PEMBROKE at Chatham on 4 November 1935 and volunteered for service in submarines in May 1937 after serving in the battleship HMS RAMILLIES.  HMS RAINBOW was his first boat after training at HMS DOLPHIN.

He is commemorated on the Chatham Naval Memorial panel 38 and on the war memorial at St Nicholas Church, North Walsham.
