The Royal Navy and Royal Marines Charity (RNRMC), which proudly holds the Submarine Family Fund, recently joined the Royal Navy Family People and Support (RNFPS) Team at HMNB Clyde for a special evening with the Submarine Qualification (SMQ) trainees. The event provided an invaluable opportunity for the next generation of submariners to learn about the support, activities, and community available to them both on base and in the surrounding areas.
With around 100 trainees in attendance, the evening was a fantastic occasion to introduce them to the wealth of support services available through the charity and community organisations. The event also encouraged open discussions, allowing trainees to share their thoughts and experiences while engaging in interactive activities and games. These elements played a crucial role in fostering camaraderie and helping the trainees settle into their demanding training environment.
Shelley Gilmore from the Drumfork Community Centre was also present, offering further insight into the social and recreational opportunities available to submariners and their families. Her involvement reinforced the importance of community connections and highlighted the resources that can help submariners maintain a strong support network throughout their careers.
The RNRMC remains committed to supporting the Submarine Service and all those who dedicate themselves to life beneath the waves. Through initiatives like the Submarine Family Fund, the charity continues to provide essential financial assistance, community projects, and well-being initiatives designed to support submariners and their families throughout their careers and beyond.
As the trainees progress through their qualification, they can be assured that a strong network of support is always available, ensuring they are well-prepared for both the challenges and rewards that come with serving in the Silent Service.
