William Linton was the son of the renowned WWII submarine ace, Commander “Tubby” Linton, VC (q.v.). William was clearly wanting to follow in his Father’s footsteps and was on the submarine Officers Training Class onboard HMS AFFRAY in which he tragically lost his life.
