George Booker was born on 13 September 1874 at Haslemere, Surrey.  He was the son of James Booker of Haslemere and the husband of Agnes Maria Booker (née Swains), whom he married in 1906, also resident in Haslemere.  He was educated at Chatham House School in Ramsgate and joined the Royal Navy in 1889.  He was washed overboard from HMS K5 on 31 July 1918 along with Stoker Michael Jordan (q.v) and their bodies never recovered.  He is commemorated on the Plymouth Naval Memorial.
