Richard Brindle was born on 20 April 1950. He served in HMS NEPTUNE Support Office in 1989.

According to a report in the Lennox Herald of 15 December 1989: “Navy man Richard Brindle was killed in a tragic road accident on Saturday. The father of two, who was stationed at the Clyde Submarine Base at Faslane, died on the A74.  He had stopped to help the victims of an accident which happened just North of Carlisle. But as he helped the drivers involved in the collision, he was struck by a passing Transit pick-up van and was killed. At the time of the accident, Mr Brindle was returning to his home in Guthrie Place, Rhu, following a trip down South on Navy business.”
