William Briscoe was born in Preston, Lancashire in December 1928, the son of Thomas Briscoe and Priscilla Ashley Briscoe (née Turberfield).

He served in HMS TURPIN and died in a motorcycle accident in Crewe, Cheshire on 6 May 1955.

According to a report in the Lancashire Evening Post of 10 May 1955: “An inquest on a Preston man killed in a motor-cycle accident at Holmes Chapel, Cheshire, will be held at Holmes Chapel tomorrow. He was Leading Seaman William Kenneth Briscoe, 6 Plover Street, Preston. Riding his machine from Portsmouth to Preston on weekend leave he came off and was killed.  He had been In the Royal Navy for about 11 years and had onlv 3 ½ vears to serve before the end of his engagement. He leaves a widow and a 13 month-old son.”
