Edgar Dunham was born in 1896 in Edmonton, Middlesex.  He was a labourer at Vickers Ltd., Barrow-in-Furness. He died on 29 August 1917 when he was blown from the deck of submarine No 499 (H21) by accidental explosion of a torpedo hatch under test. The inquest was held  on 31 August 1917.
