Ernest Edwards was born at Exeter, Devon on 7 May 1887, the son of William Edwards of Jersey. He joined the Royal Navy on 28 October 1902 at HMS IMPREGNABLE at Devonport. Later he served in the battlecruiser HMS LION and the cruiser HMS VENUS.
He was married to Evelina Edwards (Née Brown) of Cemetery Lane, Sherborne, Dorset. He is commemorated on the Portsmouth Naval Memorial Panel 12.
