Eric England was fatally wounded when survivors from HMS SAHIB, which had been sunk by the Italian corvette GABBIANO, were strafed by enemy aircraft. He succumbed to his wounds on 3 May while a prisoner-of-war.
He was the son of Albert and Lydia England and the husband of Joan England of Lewisham. He is commemorated on the Portsmouth Naval Memorial.
