George Fleet was born in Widnes, Cheshire, on 11 February 1943. He joined the Royal Navy in 1962 as an Electrical Mechanic. He served in submarines as an Electrical Mechanic 1st Class rising to Chief Petty Officer Marine Engineering Mechanic (Electrical). George Fleet served in HMS WARSPITE (1st Commission Crew) from 18 April 1967, HMS CONQUEROR (1st Commission Crew) from 9 November 1971, HMS SCEPTRE (1st Commission Crew) from 14 February 1978, HMS SUPERB and, at the time of his death he was serving in the Vickers Shipyard at Barrow in Furness in HMS TURBULENT (standing by whilst completing). He is reported to have died in Barrow in Furness on 28 September 1982.

George Fleet of 438, Hale Road, Halebank, Widnes, Cheshire was the husband of Ruth Fleet (née Millington) – they had married in Liverpool in July 1967 and they were the parents of George and Albert Fleet.
