William Hall was the son of William Harold and Mabel Hall, of Burton-on-Trent.
He arrived in Malta in January 1941 onboard the aircraft carrier HMS COURAGEOUS. He was Mentioned in Despatches (London Gazette of 5 May 1942) for bravery shown in HMS DIDO in the evacuation of Crete in May 1941. He had probably been loaned to DIDO from HMS TRIUMPH.
He is commemorated on the Portsmouth Naval Memorial, Panel 64, Column 1.
