Nathanial Harris was born in Glasgow, Lanarkshire, on 23 February 1919. The date of his appointment to HMS SPEARHEAD is not yet established. He died on 26 December 1944 when he was lost overboard following an accidental gun explosion while conducting post build trials at Dunoon. While testing the Oerlikon gun the stop holding the gun to the pedestal either sheared or was not secured and, when he fired, the gun recoiled overboard taking AB Harris with it.
Nathaniel Harris is commemorated on the Plymouth Naval Memorial on Panel 86 Column 2.
