  1. Remembering Stoker 1st Class George Hobson

Stoker 1st Class George Hobson (Service Number: K/2805) served with dedication in the Royal Navy aboard H.M. Submarine D2. Born on 20 July 1888, he was the son of Christopher and Annie Hobson of Maidstone Cottage, Chapel Terrace, Gainford, Darlington. On 1 December 1914, H.M. Submarine D2 was lost at sea, likely due to enemy action in the North Sea. George Hobson was 26 years old at the time of his death, giving his life in service to his country. He is commemorated at the Portsmouth Naval Memorial, Panel 4, ensuring his sacrifice is never forgotten. May he rest in peace.
