 Albert Hodder was born on 27 December 1878 at Lyme Regis, Dorset, the son of George and Mary Hodder of Mill Green, Lyme Regis.  He died on 4 February 1915. According to his Service Record he was drafted to HMS MAIDSTONE but was serving in HMS E11 – one of the 8th Flotilla boats.  He was accidentally drowned in the River Yare when he fell from a gang plank alongside at Great Yarmouth and was swept away. He was recovered by a passing ferryman and taken to sick bay but died a short time later.  He is  buried in Lyme Regis cemetery.
