Clifford Isaac was born at Bedminster Somerset on 12 April 1889, the son of Frederick and Elizabeth Isaac of Bristol. He joined the Royal Navy on 25 August 1906 at HMS GANGES, subsequently serving in the battleship HMS VICTORIOUS and the cruiser HMS FLORA. He was advanced to Leading Seaman on 9 June 1913 and to Petty Officer on 24 September 1914 while serving in HMS A11. He is commemorated on the Plymouth Naval Memorial Panel 11.
