Leading Stoker James Wilfred Lamb, known as Wilfred, died on 27 April 1942 when HMS URGE was lost after striking a German mine off Malta. He had previously served in HMS UNIQUE within the 10th Submarine Flotilla.

He was born on 20 October 1916 to Clarence and Jayne Ann Lamb.  He is commemorated on the Portsmouth Naval Memorial, Hampshire and the HMS URGE Memorial, Malta
