Aubrey Walter (Wally) Lambert was born in Ripon, North Yorkshire on 10 May 1934. He joined the Royal Navy as an Artificer Apprentice in 1950 and trained and qualified in 1955 as an Ordnance Artificer. No information is currently available on his ships or service as an Ordnance Artificer.

Aubrey Lambert was promoted to Engineer Sub Lieutenant (Special Duties) on 11 November 1963. After post promotion courses, he was appointed to the Royal Naval Engineering College, Manadon for engineering courses. He then served on the cruiser HMS TIGER, before joining the frigate HMS TORQUAY, where he was promoted to Lieutenant (SD) (WESM) on 1 October 1969,

Aubrey Lambert then joined submarines in 1971, with an appointment to HMS NEPTUNE for the Royal Navy Polaris Course and was then appointed to HMS REVENGE as the Assistant Polaris Systems Officer (1972 to 1973). He then returned to HMS NEPTUNE for the Royal Navy Polaris School. After promotion to Lieutenant Commander (SD) (WESM) on 1 April 1976, he again served in HMS NEPTUNE (1977 to 1978). This was followed by an appointment to the HMS RESOLUTION as the Polaris Systems Officer from 1979 to 1981. In 1982 Aubrey Lambert returned to the Royal Navy Polaris School as an instructor.

Aubrey Lambert is reported to have died, after being taken ill, on 4 December 1982. He was the husband of Jeanne Elizabeth Florence Lambert (née Sampson).
