Eric Law was born on 20 September 1919, the son of Charles Frederick Law, DSM, Chief Yeoman of Signals, Royal Navy, and Louisa Alice Law.

He lost his life on 27 April 1942 in HMS URGE. He was mentioned in despatches on 2 December 1941.

Eric Law had previously seen action in the destroyer HMS ESKIMO in WW2 before becoming a submariner. He was commended for his vigilant watch keeping in HMS URGE’s CO’s report of a patrol in October, 1941, in which Sub Lieutenant Brian Lloyd lost his life.

He is commemorated on the Chatham Naval Memorial, Panel 58, Column 2, and on the HMS URGE Memorial, Malta.
