Born in Jamaica on 10 September 1965, Gregory Lundie was the son of Victor and Prudence Lundie and the brother of Charlotte and Bethany. He was educated at Repton Preparatory School and Ellesmere College, Shropshire.

It is understood that he joined the Royal Navy in 1987 and trained as a Marine Engineering Mechanic.  He volunteered for service in submarines and was drafted to HMS SUPERB. Gregory Lundie was married to Rachel Cartledge in Bakewell, Derbyshire, in June 1989 and they had lived at 68, Maker Road, Torpoint, East Cornwall.

He is reported to have died on 7 June 1990 having committed suicide whilst the balance of his mind was disturbed. The funeral took place in St Anne’s Church, Baslow, on 18 June 1990 and at the Chesterfield Crematorium. He is remembered in St Anne’s Church, Basford.
