William "Fred" Nesbitt was the son of Mr. and Mrs. William Frederick Nesbitt and husband of Frances M. Nesbitt, of Rainham, Kent.
He joined submarines on 13 September 1932. After 10 years service in submarines he joined the crew of HMS P311 on 10 July 1942.
He left a wife and two sons and is commemorated on the Chatham Naval Memorial Panel 69 Column 2.
