Bert Pickers was born on 8 April 1910 at Hartley Wintney, Hampshire, the son of William and Helen Pickers.  Before joining the Royal Navy he was an electrician’s mate.  He joined the service on 10 April 1941 at HMS GLENDOWER at Pwllheli in North Wales.  He started submarine training at HMS DOLPHIN on 18 June 1941.  He joined HMS REGENT on 29 April 1942 and lost his life when he was lost overboard on 27 February 1943.

He was married to Clara Elizabeth Pickers and lived at Bletchley in Buckinghamshire.

He is commemorated on the Chatham Naval Memorial panel 69, column 3.
