Herbert Pratt was born on 29 March 1883, the son of George Pratt, an Excise Officer. He married Amy Hirts at St Peter’s Church Cowleigh near Malvern on 30 March 1907.
He is buried in Faslane Cemetery and commemorated on the Malvern town war memorial as well as memorials in St Matthias Church and the Church of the Ascension, Malvern. His name is also on the roll of honour in Worcester Cathedral.
