William Preston was born on 24 August 1948. He was serving in DOLPHIN when he died on 2 October 1971.
According to a report in Coventry Evening Telegraph of 2 October 1971: “Two people were killed early today in a collision between two cars in Lee-on-Solent, Hants. A car driver who died was William Preston (33), a Naval rating from the Gosport submarine base H.M.S. Dolphin, whose home is at Stubbington. Hants. The second victim was Miss Beverley Thorne (28) of Gosport. a passenger in the other car.”
