Dennis Spittles was Coxswain of the Starboard Crew of HMS RENOWN when he lost his life. The car in which he was travelling collided with a lamp post on the Glasgow to Dumbarton boulevard near Bowling. He was killed instantly and his two passengers seriously injured.
He was married and lived at Rothesay on the Isle of Bute.
