Tim Evans was born on 2 February 1894, the son of Albert John and Constance Rosalind Evans. He joined the Royal Navy as a Cadet on 15 January 1907. Promotion to Midshipman followed on 15 September 1911 and he was appointed to the cruiser HMS DRAKE on 5 December 1911. On 8 March 1913 he joined the battleship HMS DREADNOUGHT. He was promoted to Acting Sub Lieutenant on 15 January 1914. On 29 July 1914 Tim Evans was appointed to the cruiser HMS ADVENTURE,

He joined submarines with an appointment to HMS DOLPHIN on 5 July 1915 and then appointed to HMS C29 as First Lieutenant. C29 was lost with all hands after hitting a mine in the North Sea on 29 August 1915.

Tim Evans is commemorated on the Plymouth Naval Memorial on Panel No. 5.
