Michael Jordan was born on 27 September 1891 at Kingstown, Co Dublin.  He was the son of James and Anne Jordan of Clarence Street, Kingstown.  He joined the Royal Navy in December 1914 and before service in submarines he served in the battleship HMS ERIN, including seeing action at the battle of Jutland on 31 May 1916.  He was washed overboard from HMS K5 along with Chief Stoker George Booker (q.v) on 31 July 1918; their bodies were never recovered.  He is commemorated on the Plymouth Naval Memorial.
