HMS

G7

 (1916

 -

1918)

HMS G7 (Lt C A C Russell) was reported to the Admiralty as overdue at her base at Blyth on 30 October 1918. The last communication from G7 had been transmitted at 0556 on 23 October. G7 was declared lost with all hands in the North Sea on 1 November 1918, cause unknown. She was the last British submarine to be lost during WW1.

In 2015 Marine Quest divers based at Eyemouth chanced upon a submarine wreck off the Northumberland coast in the sector known as the Farnes Deep and this is believed to be the wreck of HMS G7. For more information and some videos of the wreck, see this page from the northeastatwar website.
