HMS
UNDAUNTED
(1940
-
1941)

HMS UNDAUNTED (Lt J L Livesey) sailed from Malta on 1 May 1941 to patrol an area off Tripoli. On 12 May, 2 Italian merchant ships M. Odero and N. Odero sailed from Tripoli escorted by 3 Italian torpedo boats Clio, Pegaso and Orione. Later that evening, the aircraft escorting the convoy reported sighting a submarine and Pegaso was detached to investigate. She closed the area identified by the aircraft, dropped depth charges and subsequently sighted a large patch of oil. It is likely that this attack resulted in the loss of UNDAUNTED with all hands.
