THE ORGANISATION responsible for training Royal Navy Submariners in Scotland – Fleet Operational Standards and Training (Submarines) (FOST (SM)) – has a new Commanding Officer.
The current Captain FOST Submarines, Captain Neil Lamont, formally handed over to Captain Justin Codd on Tuesday, 29 August, during the supersession at HM Naval Base Clyde.
Captain Lamont, who has been in the role a little under two years, joining in November 2021, has previously spent three years in command of HMS Vigilant and HMS Vengeance as well as spending a couple of years in the Submarine Flotilla.
His friends and colleagues at HMNB Clyde wish him well as he moves on to become the Commanding Officer of HMS Victorious which is currently undergoing a major refit at Devonport.
Based at HM Naval Base Clyde, FOST SM provides the highest standards of training for Submariners, led by a dedicated team of experts and working under the guidance of Commander Fleet Operational Standards and Training (COM FOST) based in Portsmouth.
