HMS Affray memorial service

The Gosport Branch of the Submariners Association held their annual HMS Affray Memorial Service at the AFFRAY Memorial on Gosport Waterfront on Sunday 16th April. Charity Cycle

Ami Burns of the Gosport Branch of the Submariners Association recently completed the Etape Loch Ness Bike Race in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support. The Etape Loch Ness is a Bike Race around the circumference of Loch Ness, which is 66 miles (105km) in total. In addition to the distance, it also includes an elevation gain (Uphill) of 3789ft (1155m) across the ride. Ami was one of over 5500 participants in the race. Four 4 days prior to the event,

HMNB Clyde coronation day

HMS Neptune celebrated the king’s coronation weekend by having an outdoor celebration. All base personnel were invited along to the festivities, which included the Neptune volunteer band, pipers, DJ, food stalls, beer tent and representatives from various HMNB Clyde organisations and charities, including The Submarine Family. During the vent, the WO and senior mess presented The Submarine Family with a wonderful donation of £1700, presented by mess president, WO1 Mac McLoughlin. A great day was had by all who attended.

STEM Visit to Wales

Trainee submariners and their instructors made a visit to Wales on the weekend of 21st and 22nd of April. The visit had a few objectives. The trainees attended a memorial service for Cdr John Linton VC. This service was conducted by SUBFLOT Chaplain Rob Church and was also attended by local sea cadets and veteran units. They conducted STEM visits with over 250 young people in the area and supported WRU during a visit to the Principality Stadium in Cardiff.
