The Armed Forces Covenant Fund Trust (AFCFT) has awarded £12,685 to the Royal Navy & Royal Marines Charity (RNRMC) to support activities for The Submarine Family (TSF).

The initiative, Bringing The Submarine Family Together, focuses on engaging submarine community members, particularly those without young children, in order to reduce isolation and build peer-support networks.

The funding was awarded as part of the AFCFT’s Forces for Change Programme. Through this funding, the Submarine Family will host various activities, including art classes, day trips to Fayre Play, and shopping excursions in Glasgow. The goal is to reach 300 community members over the next 12 months.

Looking to the first quarter of 2025, additional events are planned, such as a Topgolf outing, a school sports evening, a board games night, and a “Getting to Know Each Other” day at the Helensburgh Civic Centre.

This project aims to make a meaningful impact by promoting social engagement, reducing social isolation, and building a sense of community. By offering a variety of events, from recreational sports to community gatherings, the Submarine Family is creating a welcoming space for connection and well-being within the submarine community.
