LOCAL CHILDREN participated in a vast range of sporting activities recently when Kings Foundation returned to Lomond School Sports Hall & Facilities last week.
The popular holiday activity camp, held in conjunction with the Royal Navy and Royal Marines Charity (RNRMC), ran for one packed week from Monday 9th to Friday 13th October 2023. The event was open to Service children, children of Naval Base workers and members of the Helensburgh and Lomond community.
Some 56 kids passed through the camp over the week, enjoying a range of activities designed to promote an active, healthy, lifestyle.
Sponsored by the RNRMC and Captain of the Base, Captain Elaine Boyd, with grants provided by the charity, the event was open to children aged five to seventeen years of age.
Lieutenant Commander Carl Steedman, HMS Neptune’s First Lieutenant visited the camp to chat with the children and volunteers.
“This is such a fantastic initiative for our families and the wider community. For me personally, it is always a privilege to visit this impressive and important programme.” Said Lt Cdr Steedman.
“Witnessing the variety of activities delivered so enthusiastically by the dedicated Kings Camp Volunteers, and the reaction of the children. We are all extremely grateful to the staff and the RNRMC for supporting us so well – Very well done one and all!”
